April 12, 2007 -- Sunnyvale - Convergent sensors focus the emitter and receiver to an exact point in front of the sensor making them ideal for sensing objects with a small profile, and at a short distance. They provide the most accurate and stable detection in a limited area where other sensing modes would fail. Adjustable sensing ranges from 5mm to 35mm enable this SA1E to quickly and precisely detect targets while ignoring the background beyond your defined cut-off range. This means objects can be detected regardless of color or reflectivity.
SA1E sensors are available in two connection styles: 2m cable or M8 connector, and with a choice of NPN output, PNP output, light ON, and dark ON options. Housing dimensions are just 19.5mm x 10.8mm x 31.5mm. These sensors are also UL/c-UL listed, CE marked and IP67 rated. With the addition of this new type of sensor, IDEC now offers six sensing methods: background suppression, through-beam, polarized, retro-reflective, diffuse-reflective, small-beam reflective, and convergent-reflective.
