December 2006 -- IFM Electronic's award winning Octavis vibration sensor has been upgraded with integrated, frequency selective, diagnosis functions. The Octavis type VE, with up to 20 freely-configurable monitoring frequencies, provides interference immune data transfer up to 200 m with speeds from 10 to 3500 rpm.

The Efector Octavis indicates early detection of damage to rolling element bearings, unbalance, alignment errors and meshing in critical plant parts such as gears, electric motors and ventilators. The compact diagnostic system analyses the vibration signals according to the method of frequency analysis, and a micro-mechanical accelerometer acts as the sensing element.

Machine damage is detected as it arises. The sensor output 1 indicates the damage progress by means of yellow LEDs. Advanced machine damage is signalled via switching output 2 and indicated by red light diodes on the sensor.

Parameters are easy to set at the PC via the RS232 interface. The parameter setting software includes an easy to follow setup assistant, and reference conditions on the machine are shown after mounting by pressing a pushbutton on the sensor.

Efector Octavis provides permanent condition monitoring for optimum uptime of critical machines.
