March 2007 -- The smart sensor product line from Ametek Thermox eliminates the need for a control unit, providing the necessary intelligence for proper operation, alarm and calibration in the sensor. These special features simplify installation, as no interconnecting cable is required, and also makes operation easier.
All the main Thermox products have been upgraded including the WDG IV/IQ oxygen analysers, the WDG HPII/IQ, the WDG Insitu/IQ, and the CEM O2/IQ. Also being upgraded is the EI 20/IQ carbon monoxide analyser for across the stack infrared monitoring of carbon monoxide. Thermox smart sensors provide serial communications or 4-20 mA outputs for proper control.
Additionally, these sensors provide an alarm signal when the analyser is not functioning properly. Handheld or wall-mount IQ link devices connect to the sensor for setup and diagnostics, and the handheld IQ link can be used to set up multiple sensors.
Smart sensors include all Series 2000-type features, including automatic calibration, analog output, alarm, self-diagnostics and network communications. IQ analysers work with other HART communicators or other HART protocol systems. Wall-mount or handheld IQ Links or a Series 2000 Host Control Unit allow the user to set up or display sensor data either locally or remotely.
