Parker highlights high-integrity Manifolds.

October 4-7, 2005 -- Almaty, Kazakhstan, At KIOGE 2005, Parker Instrumentation will highlight two ranges of manifolds that enhance integrity compared with many traditional designs. Parker's high-integrity manifold technology was an important element behind its recent success in winning the instrumentation frame agreement for the Kashagan field.

The first range - the H Series - provides a wide choice of three- and five-way manifolds for pressure and flow instrumentation and features integral pre-assembled connections for compression tube fittings. Known as PTFree Connect, this innovation eliminates taper thread interconnections, and with it any need for PTFE tape or anaerobic sealant - a cause of problems in the field. This type of connection is specified for all manifold installations within the Kashagan development.

Another benefit of Parker's PTFree Connect is enhanced mounting flexibility. Instruments are often mounted in cramped locations, with impulse line connections coming in at 90 degrees. To implement this, the installer will typically use an elbow joint providing a taper thread-to-fitting connection. However, you can’t pre-determine exactly how many turns will be required to screw in the elbow joint, meaning that the tube end is not ideally angled to receive the tubing. With PTFree connections, a tube-to-tube fitting elbow joint can be swivelled to exactly the required angle, and then tightened, providing yet a further assurance of integrity.

The second manifold range offers high-integrity designs for double-block-and-bleed applications, and includes single-piece monoflange types, and a new line called Pro-Bloc - which features a body extending from a standard flange. Pro-Bloc manifolds are machined from a single forged piece. This can eliminate numerous joints - and potential leak paths – compared with more conventional double-block-and-bleed arrangements constructed using discrete components.

Newly available in a choice of bore sizes up to 25mm, Parker's Pro-Bloc manifolds significantly extend the application diversity, by providing a high flow rate capability unit that can form part of the processing system itself. Typical application areas include offshore oil and gas platforms, refineries, and chemical and petrochemical plants.

Combined with the organisation's global logistics structure and special project services, this advanced product technology has made Parker the preferred partner on many of the largest and most influential offshore applications of our time - with recent successes including specification on Angostura, Buzzard, Dolphin and Greater Plutonio, in addition to Kashagan.
