Lloyd Instruments will be showing an impressive range of high
performance materials testing equipment and powerful NEXYGENPlus
software for the processing and packaging industries. This will
include a twin column LR10KPlus instrument equipped with an EX800Plus
extensometer, a single column LRXPlus instrument and an FTPlus
friction tester and MFI-10 melt flow indexer from the company's
Davenport range of plastic and polymer test instruments.
The LRXPlus and LR10KPlus are universal materials testing machines
that offer versatile materials testing capabilities for tensile,
compression, flexural and friction testing applications at forces up
to 5 kN, and 10 kN respectively. They have been chosen for display
from the Plus range, which features 9 instruments with capacities
from 1kN to 150kN.
Both systems will be operating under PC control using the recently
launched NEXYGENPlus materials test and control software, whose
extensive capabilities includes test creation, data collection,
reporting and exporting test data, video and still picture capture,
test data security and audit trails, and test automation and
customisation. The EX800Plus extensometer accessory, to be fitted to
the LR10KPlus machine, allows the accurate extension measurement of
materials such as semi-rigid plastics, elastomers and rubbers.
With extensive applications in the packaging and printing industry,
Lloyd Instruments will also be showing its FTPlus friction tester,
introduced in 2006. The FTPlus is a dedicated, high accuracy, bench-
mounted single lead screw instrument, which conforms to the
requirements of the key friction testing standards, ASTM D1894, ISO
8295 and TAPPI T549. The FTPlus can be used for measurements of
static and kinetic coefficients of friction, peak load and average load.
The Davenport MFI-10 melt flow indexer is an intelligent modular
system, which allows fully automatic measurement of the melt flow
rate of a polymer. It can be used both by resin manufacturers and
processors such as extruders and injection moulders to measure the
melt flow rate and melt volume rate of thermoplastics before use in
the manufacturing process. Equipped with an Auto Flow Rate Timer, the
MFI-10 will be controlled using NEXYGEN™-Davenport control and
analysis software which also produces test graphs, results tables and
batch statistics.
