Siemens SITRANS LR 200 radar level transmitter has recently received additional CSA and FM and ATEX approvals for hazardous locations containing flammable gases. These new approvals apply to explosion proof and increased safety designs and allow the SITRANS LR 200 to be installed in hazardous areas without the requirement for an intrinsically safe barrier. These approvals contribute to greater applicability in the chemical and petrochemical industries.
SITRANS LR 200, a 2-wire, loop-powered pulse radar transmitter from Siemens Milltronics, offers a cost-effective level measurement solution for liquid bulk storage or process vessels. The transmitter is ideally suited for chemical, pharmaceutical, or hydrocarbon industries. Typical applications are liquids with vapor, high temperatures, high pressure or vacuum; liquid bulk storage tanks, including tank farms; and process vessels.
SITRANS LR 200 offers many features that make it the easiest instrument of its kind to install and operate. It includes a built-in alphanumeric display in four languages, and the unique design allows programming without opening the lid, even in hazardous areas, using the infrared, Intrinsically Safe handheld programmer. The compact electronics are mounted on a rotating head that swivels to align with conduit or wiring connections, and adjusts after installation for easy viewing. The instrument is easy to set up with as few as two parameters for basic operation, and without the need for echo profile analysis at start-up.
Along with ease of use, SITRANS LR 200 offers high performance measurement. The low frequency (5.8 GHz, 6.3 in North America) is ideally suited to liquid level measurement and provides highest immunity to condensation or other deposit. The high signal-to-noise ratio provides ample signal for a measuring range up to 20 m (66 ft). SITRANS LR 200 features patented Sonic Intelligence signal processing technology for superior reliability, along with Auto False-Echo Suppression that detects and suppresses false echoes from tank obstructions.
