New FL4000 Intelligent Multi-Spectral IR (MSIR) Flame Detection System is unveiled to incorporate neural network technology (NNT). With a next-generation multi-spectral infrared sensor, the new design "gives process and plant engineers a potent new tool in protecting people, equipment, and facilities from dangerous hydrocarbon flame sources," declares FL4000's manufacturer.
For oil and gas offshore drilling platforms, pipelines, LNG or LPG plants, and refineries -- the new flame detection design combines an advanced optical MSIR sensor array with NNT processing. Using four separate infrared spectrums sampling different infrared spectral areas to detect a flame -- FL4000 avoids false alarms caused by reflected sunlight, arc welding, hot piping, or machinery false alarm sources.
The flame detection system delivers extended range up to 230 ft and field-of-view characteristics of 100 degrees at 50 ft.
