13 Jul 2006 -- eeProductCenter -- Macro Sensors is offering a broad range of linear variable differential transducer-based (LVDT) linear position sensors in various configurations and outputs to satisfy the requirements of current and legacy turbine installations.

Macro Sensors said it manufactures exact replacement power generation LVDTs that match other manufacturers' designs, but at a cost savings and better availability. These include form, fit and function equivalents with the same electrical and mechanical specifications as Westinghouse stock units. The company also provides non-standard and custom designs for OEMs and system integrators.

The LVDT-based linear position sensors are available in a variety of configurations. These include hermetically sealed AC- and DC-operated LVDTs with axial or radial connectors, and UL/ULC- listed AC-operated LVDTs approved for operation in Class 1, Division 2 and Class Zone 2 hazardous locations. Other styles include double-shielded and epoxy encapsulated AC-operated LVDTs that withstand high shock and vibration levels. The LVDTs are used for position measurement on governor valves, throttle valves, reheat/stop valves, interceptor valves, and other control valves.

The company also recently introduced hermetically sealed DC-operated LVDT position sensors for general industrial use.
