26 July 2006 -- The latest generation of 'Arc-Resistant' Infrared (IR) Sightglasses from Hawk IR International have been designed and tested to withstand the massive forces associated with an electric arc-flash. The coated, broadband optic is guaranteed never to degrade with moisture and will operate with any IR camera with a standard lens. Designed around NFPA70E requirements and exposed to extensive arc-fault testing to both ANSI and IEEE Standards, the UL recognised, Hawk IR Sightglass C-Range, not only helps prevent arc-fault triggers from occurring but can also protect your personnel from arc-blast injury should it occur.

Utilising a toughened crystal optic known as Clirvu, Hawk IR Sightglass 'C-Range' can withstand arc-fault events in excess of 38kA (38,000A) without failure, maximising worker safety.

The Clirvu coated optic holds a lifetime warranty against moisture degradation and is totally flexible, operating with all IR cameras on the market today.

Importantly the C-Range IR Sightglass allows full use of both the infrared and visual capabilities built into many infrared cameras.

For systems with low incident energy levels, Hawk IR International also provide a UL recognised IR Port design.

Allowing operation with any IR camera, the IR port makes use of a series of small - 1/4'' (fingerproof) - holes which allow infrared to pass to the camera.

The IR Ports offer significantly less protection than IR Sightglasses but can provide a cost effective means of infrared scanning where the flash hazard risk is low.
