High capacity 300A EV Series relay

10 August 2006. PANASONIC has developed a high-voltage cut-off relay that employs a "capsule contact mechanism" that completely seals the contact section and makes high-capacity control possible.

Available from Soanar, the relay meets the need for high-voltage cut-off (400V dc) and high-capacity control (300A level) in fuel-cell vehicles, hybrid buses, or large-scale industrial equipment (cogeneration systems for stores, etc.).

High-voltage, high-current control possible

400 V dc high-voltage switching cutoff has been achieved thanks to a sealed construction with mixed hydrogen gas and magnetic arc motion through use of a permanent magnet.

Compact and low operating sound

By using a capsule contact mechanism that is enclosed with hydrogen gas, high-capacity cut-off is possible even with a tiny contact gap. There is little operating noise, which does not change even when large currents are cut off.

Arc space unnecessary

The enclosure box has been made smaller thanks to an arc-space-free construction in which the arc will not get out.

Safety

Since the contacts are enclosed in a sealed capsule structure, the arc will not get out, which ensures safety.

High contact reliability

The contact part is hermetically sealed with hydrogen gas, hence the contact resistance remains stable regardless of the ambient conditions.

Applications include hybrid electric vehicles; battery charge and discharge systems; welding equipment; inverter control; solar power generation systems; and elevators.
