7/12/2005 -- Adelaide, Australia-based Fiberbyte, a subsidiary of Silex Systems, has announced the release of its initial product—the USB-inSync DAQ-2500X data-acquisition module. The product release, according to the company, follows the successful completion of key standards compliance testing and certification in the US.
The DAQ-2500X features four 16-bit-resolution analog input channels (multiplexed to 16 inputs), multichannel 1-Mbyte/s data throughput, programmable digital I/O, and advanced triggering functions. Its four discrete ADCs deliver synchronous acquisition at 100-ksamples/s per channel with a 400-ksample/s continuous data throughput. A 1-Mbyte FIFO enables onboard buffering of more than a second worth of data with all four ADCs sampling at 100-ksamples/s. Fully programmable digital I/O and triggers adapt the DAQ-2500X for numerous data logging applications. The DAQ-2500X will even operate from battery power.
Fiberbyte offers a software suite for use with the DAQ-2500X. The DAQ Control Center provides PC control and supports data logging to multiple devices for users with no programming experience. Experienced users can access the functionality of the DAQ-2500X through Fiberbyte's COM Server interface, which provides support for most modern programming languages and software applications. LabView drivers are also provided for interfacing into existing test applications.
The DAQ-2500X is compatible with other USB devices, the company says, but adds that only USB-inSync devices will support the family's multidevice synchronous and deterministic features.
"I would like to congratulate the Fiberbyte team on their fine achievements in reaching this milestone," Silex CEO, Dr. Michael Goldsworthy said. "On the commercial side, sales and marketing, and production activities are being ramped-up, whilst the technical team has already commenced development efforts for the next products," he added.
"This is a significant step forward for Fiberbyte" founder and chief technology officer Dr. Peter Foster said. "After getting through the compliance and certification tests with flying colors, the technical team can now focus on the development of the next two USB-inSync products, due for release late this year and mid-2006."
The product will be available in the US in August for a price of $1195.
