May 30, 2007 -- ED-200 and ED-210 routers gather the functions of a switch and a packet filter for short or long distance network interconnections. The ED-200 has a standard serial port RS-232 or RS-422. It thus offers a wide range of communication possibilities when using standard Westermo PSTN, ISDN, GSM or radio modems. The ED-210 has an integrated V.34 PTSN modem equipped with transient protection on the line side and a “watch-dog” that monitors and automatically resets the modem in the event of a fault.
To guarantee a high level of security, both ED-200 and ED-210 provide multiple-user identification or call-back security and passwords along with a simple IP level firewall.
The new routers benefit from Westermo’s decades of experience in harsh environment compliance. They have galvanic isolation and enhanced surge/transient protection on all ports, and an extended working temperature range of –25°C up to +70°C. This enables the devices to be used in projects where a high degree of reliability is required.
ED-200 can be used with any of the Westermo’s standard modems

ED-210 integrates a V.34 PSTN modem
Connection of the ED-200 with an external Westermo modem is totally transparent so no additional software is necessary. Configuration of both of the routers is simple - based on other solutions from Westermo. All other settings use Windows-based programming or the integrated web tool. Communications statistics are easily available everywhere in the network, using a web tool.
