December 20 2006 -- Delkin Devices Inc announced today the SensorScope System, which they claim is "the safest and most effective system" for cleaning digital SLR image sensors. The SensorScope actually inspects the DSLR sensor using high magnification and a high-intensity light source.

The SensorScope looks like a camera lens, but lets users look back into their cameras to inspect the sensor. It provides 5x magnification and 4 LED lights which illuminate the field of inspection. Users look through the Scope to check their sensor to see if it needs cleaning.

The theory behind the SensorScope is that inspecting a sensor may prevent damaging, unnecessary extra cleaning. However, if the user discovers dust, Delkin has unveiled a cleaning system designed to be used with the SensorScope.

The DigitalDuster kit includes a vacuum unit, wands, and solution to enable removal of both wet and dry debris that can show up on a sensor.

The SensorScope system includes the SensorVac mini vacuum, SensorWand, which is a double-sided wet/dry wand, and SensorSolution, for cleaning up chemical debris. It is expected to be available in January for approximately $189.99.
