9 September 2005. NEW national and international standards for electrical safety testing call for the regular calibration and routine verification of the ac and dc test voltages that are used for dielectric voltage withstand tests or high potential tests (HIPOT), insulation resistance tests and ground bond tests.

Extech Electronics’ 7005 digital high voltage meter offers a cost effective solution for the in-house calibration of both ac and dc high voltage meters and ATE test sets. Extech is represented in Australia by Westek Electronics Pty Ltd.

The 7005’s basic dc voltage accurancy (to 12kV) is 0.4% and for ac (to 10kV) is 0.8%.

The input impedance is 100MO to provide minimal circuit loading.

The large, 41/2 digit LED display provides clear and unequivocal readings with a resolution of 0.001.
