Designed for automotive steering applications, this new digital angular position sensor (DAPS) offers analog, PWM, and CAN Bus outputs. DAPS position sensing is suitable for use in automotive stability control systems that require accurate steering position information. The position sensor incorporates the manufacturer’s broadband energy transfer technology, which is said to provide accurate position and speed information. Engineers can program the sensors during installation to set zero degree positions. Outputs provide absolute position information without gaps in the signal through ?,440° of rotation. The DAPS steering sensor features 12-bit resolution over the full 360° of rotation, with absolute position output available up to ?,440°. Said to provide a lifecycle of at least 25 million rotations, the steering sensor offers an accuracy of ?.40 percent and a resolution of 0.1. Typical operating voltage is 5.0 V (?.25 V), with 12 V operation available. Operating temperature range is -40° to +125° C. Engineers can choose to add Magnetorque sensing technology for compliant shaft applications that require torque sensing. Custom package sizes are available.
