Motion sensor-equipped cellphones elevate gaming to next level

Submitted by nestorb on Thu, 2007-06-07 17:35.
The D904I model, unveiled this week, is equipped with a motion sensor that allows users to swing the handset like a tennis racket or wield it like sword to control game play. D904I was made by Mitsubishi Electric Corp,

Compact optical sensors offer high precision

As well as axial measurement, the new range of sensors also includes a 90-degree version that enables users to measure (radially) the inner surfaces of small components. The sensor head can be rotated inside the bore, so users can measure surface defects inside and check the concentricity or roundness of bores or drilled holes.

"The possibilities are endless with this technology. It's about thinking of new ways to play games, that might be played by very different people than we are used to,"

The Wii's MEMS Inventor on Future Technology

Submitted by nestorb on Fri, 2007-03-02 18:56.
The microelectromechanical system (MEMS) gives Wii its core ability to sense motion in the controller. What's really interesting is where Benedetto Vigna wants to take this technology. He has plans to make the sensor smaller and tougher, and hope to place it inside of things like shoes, textiles, and medical devices to aid in data collection.

Cllr Ryan said the device was very effective on the busy stretch of road which is used by motorists travelling to Galway adding that the proximity of the junction to the road adds to the danger for those accessing the school..

Hermetically-Sealed LVDT Sensors Feature 4-20 mA I/O In Both 2-Wire or 3-Wire Configurations For Simplified Field Integration

Submitted by nestorb on Fri, 2007-01-05 11:06.
Offered in both hard-connected and spring-loaded versions, Macro Sensors’ 4-20 mA current loop output LVDTs are hermetically sealed against dirt, water, steam, solvents, and other corrosive elements, that enables their installation in hostile environments while the loop wiring connects to remote indicators and/or controllers located in environments safe from hostile conditions.

The ease of mounting, combined with its robustness, defies its tiny size and small mass, thus making the XA1520 ideal for a multitude of automotive, aeronautical, marine and general industrial applications...

Displacement sensors are easy to integrate

Submitted by nestorb on Wed, 2006-12-13 13:43.
Elite series systems also include performance enhancements, whether or not they are used with Labview: analogue signals to the data acquisition system are differential for a higher signal-to-noise ratio; multiple sensor systems are synchronised to prevent inter-channel interference...
